Another beautiful May Day – and the fine folks at Kroger Grocery Stores are providing LIVE music for their Shoppers to enjoy today. Luke Austin Daughter is a poet, author and a fine Singer-Songwriter who is making his first Kroger Sunday Showcase appearance. He’ll be on stage ‘In the Round’ with his good friend Pablo Adams – a seasoned veteran of the Showcases. Also the fun-loving and uber-talented Frank Jones will delight Kroger Shoppers this afternoon. Stage is near the Bistro, next to the world famous – Murray’s Cheese Shoppe. FREE!

2016 French Lick Jazz Festival

Friday May 20

The festivities will kick off Friday evening, May 20th with a Dinner/Dance at a newly opened Abbeydell Hall at the Legend of French Lick. Dinner will be served at 6:30, a buffet style New Orleans style Cajun meal, catered by First Class Catering from Blackerby’s Hangar. The meal will include a complimentary glass of wine for each person. The dance will begin at 7:30 pm featuring the grand sound of “THE NOSTALGIA BAND” lasting until 9:30 pm. Be sure to put on your dancing shoes!

The ticket price for this event is $39.00 per person. Event packages starting at $198.00 are available with Comfort Suites (812.936.5300) as well as The Legend of French Lick (812.936.6333). “The Raising of America” documentary seeks to reframe the way Americans look at early childhood health and development and spark a much-needed national conversation: What actions will we take to assure the conditions that all children need for a strong start and put the nation on a path towards a healthier, safer, better educated, more prosperous and more equitable tomorrow? The screening will begin at 2:00 p.m. and be followed by a panel discussion, moderated by Bob Zaltsberg, with local experts to explore what we can to improve conditions for kids and families.
