“Bewitched by Love” – Selections from Broadway and Opera

02:00 pm to 04:00 pm
Fairview United Methodist Church, 600 W. 6th Street

Magic is in the air! (And, apparently, in the things that we drink.) Come experience musical enchantment with “Bewitched by Love” – a free summer concert that celebrates the magic potions and poisons that inflame our hearts. Waltz with us to tunes from Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella and Franz Lehar’s The Merry Widow – and watch what happens when people decide to knock back magic elixirs and inhale poisoned flowers.

Soprano Anna Singer and baritone Richard Lewis are back this summer, along with pianist Gregory Wang, to regale you with music from Broadway and opera and introduce you to characters who put their trust in the promise of magic. You’ll hear classic tunes like “Witchcraft” and “You Do Something to Me,” as well as visit the magical operas of Rossini and Wagner – with a little detour through the poisonous world of Lucretia Borgia.

And, since we want to share a little magic with others, at this free concert we will accept donations to benefit Fairview Elementary School’s literacy program. So, whether you want to enjoy musical bewitchment or give generously to your community, come join us!

This program is supported in part by the City of Bloomington Arts Commission’s Arts Project Grant Program.

Cost: Free
