Monroe Lake offers paddling trip for beginners, Sep. 6
Want to explore the backwaters of Monroe Lake but need help getting started? The “Pine Grove Paddle” on Saturday, September 6 is designed specifically for beginning paddlers.
The 3-hour trip begins at 10:00 a.m. at Pine Grove State Recreation Area on Monroe Lake. During the first portion, you’ll learn how to properly propel and maneuver a canoe or kayak under the guidance of two experienced instructors.
During the second part, you’ll apply those skills by paddling through a backwater area of Monroe Lake and exploring the natural and cultural history of the area.
Registration for the “Pine Grove Paddle” is required by September 3 at http://bit.ly/pinegrovepaddlesep14. The trip is limited to 15 people, ages 15 and up.
There is a program fee is $10 per person. Participants can bring their own canoe/kayak, or rent one for the morning. The rental fee is $35 (for a 2-person canoe or a 1-person kayak) and includes life jackets and boat delivery/pickup.
