Surviving Ophelia- 2017, Our community coming together to save lives, and celebrate living, a Presentation by Michelle Martin Colman, Founder

05:30 pm to 07:00 pm
The Venue Fine Art & Gifts
https://www.thevenuebloomington.com

On Tuesday evening, beginning at 5:30 p.m. as part of our When Art Heals series, The Venue will host a presentation by Michelle Martin-Colman, founder of our local Ophelia Project, the go-to program addressing relational aggression and bullying in our schools and work places. Michelle will introduce her newest initiative, “Surviving Ophelia”, a program to identify and develop positive mental health initiatives and protocols that address problems of depression, grief, feelings of disconnectedness, loss of hope, and other mental health issues that lead to suicide.
Michelle recently attended the 50th Conference of American Association of Suicidology (http://www.suicidology.org/) in Phoenix, to identify evidence-based suicide prevention resources to bring back to our community. “I was pleasantly surprised to hear one of the first speakers refer to Non-Violent Communication as an effective model of communication that we know can work to prevent suicide,” she says.
On Tuesday, Michelle will present an introduction to NonViolent Communication by Marshall Rosenberg. Attendees are invited to visit the CNVC.org webside, home page, and click NVC Chapter one, Download the NVC Model, Concepts, Feelings List and Needs List and get started saving relationships and lives! “This model saves lives, and has for years,” says Michelle. “I’m looking forward to our community getting serious about saving lives.”
