Join us for our monthly Lunch with Nature Series! Bring a sack lunch to enjoy during the main presentation. Afterwards, there is a short walk/hike that highlights the topic. 90 minutes

This month’s topic is: The Nut Gatherers. We’ll explore the nut gathering tendencies of three Indiana animals – the why, what, where, and how of their food “caching” behaviors. We’ll finish with a short hike into the forest to look at different varieties of masting trees.

The class is taught by Allana Radecki who has been teaching Hatha Yoga since 1988. Her “Yoga from the Inside Out,” draws upon the foundation poses of Hatha Yoga, guided by the breath, to develop a balanced, mindful practice. Allana’s method adapts easily to all ages and levels of practice and is helpful to people with special needs, injuries and joint replacements. Allana’s teaching is grounded in 40 years of Hatha practice and over 25 years of teaching yoga, dance, fitness and Pilates, deeply influenced by Body-Mind Centering.

Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor is a Harvard- trained and published neuroanatomist and author of the New York Times bestselling memoir “My Stroke of Insight: A Brain Scientist’s Personal Journey” (published in 2008 by Viking Penguin). About the Director

Since 1991, Brent Wallarab has been lead trombonist with the Smithsonian Jazz Masterworks Orchestra, the jazz orchestra in residence at the Smithsonian Institution’s Museum of American History in Washington, D.C. As lead trombonist, he specializes in recreating the entire spectrum of jazz brass styles. In 1992, Wallarab was appointed specialist in jazz for the Smithsonian Institution and serves as transcriber, researcher, editor, and advisor for the Smithsonian’s extensive jazz program.

He has transcribed and edited over 300 masterworks for jazz orchestra and is considered one of the leading authorities on historical composition for jazz orchestras such as those of Duke Ellington, Sy Oliver, Fletcher Henderson, and Gil Evans. He has been instrumental is cataloguing and identifying many pieces from the Ellington archives housed at the Smithsonian Institution.

Wallarab is currently an assistant professor of jazz studies at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music.
